How To Take Out A Tenant Contents Insurance? And Best Method Of Doing So?

First of all is this same as contents cover? If it is then i can simply go onto an insurance website (direct line for e.g.) and apply for contents cover, yeah?

ALso, how do you apply? What's the best method?
- by phone?
- website/online?
- walk straight into an office in city centre and speak face to face?

Answer: The two answers so far seem to be USA. If you are in the UK, then you just take out a normal home contents policy, but make sure it is one that will cover you if you do not own the home. Some online insurers build it into the statement of facts or small print that you have to be the homeowner.

If the house is rented to you furnished and you are only looking to insure your personal possessions, you can still take this policy but it will not cover anything which does not belong to you.

If you speak to a local broker they can search up to 100 companies for you, depending on their size, and come up with the best.

When To Apply For Tenant Contents Insurance? - Renting Flat?

At what stage in the renting process do i do this?

- after i move in?
- before i move in?
- before signing tenancy agreement?
- after signing tenancy agreement?
- during ref/credit check process?

Answer: You can apply for tenant contents insurance (renting flat) as you start moving content in the house you have rented even though all contents have not moved in, but the tenant content insurance is available to you only after signing tenancy agreement.

Which Tenants Contents Insurance Do I Need?

We are asked to take a tenants contents insurance for our new home. There is nothing that valuable from our things: a computer, a TV, the furniture is pretty cheap.
Is it worth taking one and which one would you recommend?
Thanks!

Answer: There is only one type of policy. It is renters insurance. Call around and get some quotes. Start with the company that carries your auto insurance. You will get a discount on both policies.

Tenant Has To Have Content Insurance?

Should I have included on my lease between myself (owner) and my tenant that she must have her own insurance for contents of the house. Someone just told me that, and my lease didnt have it. She hasn't moved in yet, her move in day is the 1st, can I still add it? How? What if she doesn't have it, can I just have a clause that states I am not responsible for content insurance? Help me!

Answer: Most landlords don't require it so to remain competitive I wouldn't require it but I would add an addendum indicating that tenants should inquire with their insurance provider about renters coverage. I wouldn't add the clause re: responsibility for content insurance because the insurance covers more than contents (ie liability).

Guide to Tenants Insurance Coverage: What Does Renters Contents ...

The Need for Tenants Insurance Coverage Although renters property insurance could be considered yet another unwanted expense, it is necessary to consider the consequences of the worst case scenario. Tenants insurance coverage must to be taken out to protect personal possessions and cover against liability in the event of a visitor sustaining an injury. A modest monthly home renters insurance premium can help guard against any of these unfortunate scenarios becoming a reality....
