Is Short Term Health Insurance Enough For College Students? |
Question by lifedigger | Posted in Other - General Health Care
Hi all, pardon this stupid question, but I'm a new grad student who's working hard to support the education and living expenses on my own. The health insurance plan recommended by the school is pretty damn expensive for me - about $1,000 a year. That sounds pretty decent to some people, but I don't think I can afford that, even if the school highly recommend everyone to take it. I was thinking about getting a short term plan through the same company that my school is working with. I'll probably travel
| Answer: health-quotes.talk4fun.net - here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service. |

Should Losing HIPAA Eligibility Be A Concern For Me When Considering Short-term Health Insurance? |
Question by AP | Posted in Other - General Health Care
I recently graduated from college and am considering purchasing a short-term health insurance plan. I read that the drawback of purchasing a short-term plan is that it makes you ineliglble for HIPAA, which covers pre-existing medical conditions.
As far as I know, I don't have any pre-existing medical conditions. Does this mean that losing HIPAA eligibility is completely irrelevant for me and that I can safely purchase a short-term health insurance plan?
Or, is there
Answer: If you are in good health and have no pre-existing conditions you don't need to preserve your eligibility. In fact, the eligibility only lasts for 63 days. HIPAA guarantees you a policy but it doesn't guarantee a premium. A HIPAA policy can run anywhere from 10% to 400% more than a regular policy. It is intended for people with major or expensive health problems that would cause a company to decline you.
A short term policy is made for someone in your position. It will not cover minor charges but will cover catastrophic occurances. It will tie you over until you get your life settled. |

Should I Be Getting Some Money Back? Short Term Health Insurance? |
Question by gvp_choi | Posted in Dental
I'm a recent college graduate. I was still under my parents' insurance for about a month after. I visited my doctor with that insurance once. My next visit was under my NEW short term health insurance. However, my new insurance plan did not accept any of the claims for office visits, prescription, etc. because they claimed it was a "pre-existing condition". Is this valid even though I was under my parents' plan?? I'm basically paying out-of-my pocket for everything! It's very expensive

What Is A Good Short Term Health Insurance Plan Just For Office Visits And Prescription Medicine? |
Question by aimamerika | Posted in Insurance
so far i found this. Would it be good for me? i just want office visits and prescription medicine. Since in a few months im going to be covered by my employer. So i just need temporary insurance.
Deductible
Individual:$750
Coinsurance
20% after deductible
Out-of-Pocket Limit
Individual:$2,500
Includes deductible
Office Visit
Primary Doctor
$40 Copay, PCP, SP and severe mental health
Answer: You're looking at the benefits. Consider how inexpensive most short term plans are too. Most people buy short term health without the intent of using but just in case something major happens. If you intended to make claims, the cost would be much higher (insurance is for unforeseen risks, not known risks).
Buying a short term plan for $200 a month that covers weekly chiropractic visits ain't going to happen.
Good luck and remember that it's only temporary. |
