What Month Is The Earliest A Senior With Medicare Can Change The Supplemental Insurance Now In Effect? |
I think it might not be till Dec? I want a new plan for 2012.
| Answer: Since a supplemental policy (Medigap policy) is private insurance that you are paying for out of your pocket, you have the right to change anytime that you want. However, new companies can consider pre-existing when quoting you rates for a new policy. You might be confused and think that your Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare D plan are supplementals (which they are not). Unless you are on Medicaid you can only change these plans during annual enrollment which next year is from Oct 15th to December 7th. |
