What Month Is The Earliest A Senior With Medicare Can Change The Supplemental Insurance Now In Effect?

I think it might not be till Dec? I want a new plan for 2012.

Answer: Since a supplemental policy (Medigap policy) is private insurance that you are paying for out of your pocket, you have the right to change anytime that you want. However, new companies can consider pre-existing when quoting you rates for a new policy.
You might be confused and think that your Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare D plan are supplementals (which they are not). Unless you are on Medicaid you can only change these plans during annual enrollment which next year is from Oct 15th to December 7th.

Medigap Insurance Coverage?

My mom was in the hospital after having part of her leg amputated, now she's in a skilled nursing home. My mom had Medicare and Anthem Senior Select supplemental. The nursing home told us that Anthem doesn't cover the co-pay after Medicare stops paying 100 percent. I thought that was the purpose of having medicap insurance.

Answer: Medicare only covers part of nursing care for up to 100 days after surgery. Medigap does not cover long term care because Medicare does not cover it. Medicare covers limited nursing after surgery. If she has Original Medicare, Medicare covers the first 20 days, then you pay $137.50 for 21 to 100 days in nursing and after 100 days Medicare will not pay anything and neither does Medigap.

The purpose of Medigap is to cover the 20% of medical costs except for long term nursing care.

What she needed was long term care insurance but it is too late to buy it after the fact.

Can You Explain How These Policy Positions Protect Seniors? Do You Even Recognize WHOSE Positions They Are?

> Keep Medicare on a track WE said dooms it to collapse.
> Keep Social Security on a track WE said dooms it to collapse.
> Compel prescription drug shortages.
> Eliminate patent protections for inventors of drugs.
> Forbid supplemental insurance that covers things Medicare won't.
> Apply wage/price controls - which have ALWAYS yielded shortages - to health care.

Answer: The goal is to 'Keep them on a track' through the next election cycle. The dems are protecting jobs alright. Their own as usual.

Answer: It works if that person has no ethics. Fairly prevalent in our society.

What does growing our national debt for over fifty years straight do for us? It allows voters to not pay taxes for current services and forces it onto future generations. Highly unethical and yet that is the government response to every problem. Few express any dissent for that, I hear cheers for Obama when he says he will spend billions. Does he hate his daughters or do they get a pass on future taxes? Same goes for Bush, does he hate his children? Actions speak louder than words.

Is It Better To Ignore The Problems With Funding Medicare And Let It Go Broke So The Whole Country Goes Broke?

Within the next 10 years, the number of people using Medicare will double. It will go broke by 2024. That is only 13 years from now. Does anybody really believe that the cost of Medicare has been decreasing over the years? Isn't it interesting that this group of people who use more medical care than any other would see a reduction in cost while the rest of the country sees astounding increases in the cost of their health care? What kind of bookkeeping do they use to determine this?

Answer: Our economy is like a bucket of water with enlarging holes in the bottom and a decreasing number of tax payers attempting to keep it full.

The lefts solution is always to just pour in more water and poke more holes. Don't they realize that the only real solution is to fix the leaks? Anyone who attempts to actually address the causes of the problems rather than just ignore and perpetuate them is attacked. Apparently their plan is to wait until the entire system collapses before taking any real action.

They use this issue as a political football and ignore the reality of the situation while demonizing those that are truly attempting to address it. They may get some short

Evaluate Medigap Policies' Costs: Learn how to Estimate Medicare ...

Evaluating Medicare Supplemental Insurance Costs Insurance companies charge a monthly premium for each Medigap policy sold. Medigap insurance policies are designed to supplement a person&rsquo. s Medicare coverage, Part A and B. These policies help to pay for health related costs not covered by Medicare. This premium is in addition to the monthly cost of Medicare Part B and it varies depending on the insurance company. Individuals need to evaluate their health care needs and financial situation before deciding to purchase one of these policies. Medigap policies are sold by insurance companies approved by the government. The first step is to determine if an additional policy is needed based on health care needs. If a Medigap policy is required individuals should evaluate a few of the policies available for costs and for maximum benefits coverage. Not everyone needs a Medigap policy since Medicare may cover all of an individual&rsquo. Generally these policies offer the same basic health coverage, the main differences among them are the costs charged by the underwriter company....
