Is It Legal For A Car Insurance Company To Cancel Insurance Withought Notification?

My daughter renewed her car insurance last december,in january she changed banks cancelling her direct debit, she rang the insurance company to arrange a new direct debit with her new bank. The insurance company attempted to use the cancelled debit when it was not able to obtain any money it cancelled her insurance it at no time notified her of this, but says if she can prove she rang them (unfortunatley she cannot) they will reinstate her insurance ,if not tough!

Answer: It is not legal to cancel without receiving notification of cancellation. Your daughter would have received a few notices. One that her withdrawal did not go through and that she needed to make a payment and she would have received an official notice of cancellation. They mail them to the last known address on the policy. If her address changed and she did not notify them they would not have known where to mail it.

I hate to say this but this happens often in insurance agencies. People will call and tell me that they called but we document every phone call and I can go back and see if the person called. Many people when they go thru this have so much on their mind that they

Is It Legal Not To Give Notification To Employees For Insurance Payment?

If and employer comes to you 30 minutes prior to payroll and tells you that you are responsible for your health insurance premium begining right then and there, is it legal? Keep in mind - the employer has been paying 100 % of your health insurance and you are still employed during this time.

I understand the COBRA laws. I'm just confused about this issue.

Thanks!

Answer: It is legal for your employer to decide they want the employees to start paying for benefits. However they must give you proper notice (I would think at least 30 days). Typically this decision would be made and would become effective at the begining of a plan year.

COBRA is the continuation of your coverage if you term. Did you terminate employment after that date? Then yes you would be 100% responsible for your insurance if you chose to continue coverage.

That doesn't seem the issue here though. Go to HR or check the IRS website. Something doesn't seem right.

When You Get A Speeding Ticket, Does Your Insurance Send You A Notification?

I dont know if it is different for each state, but i live in california, and i was pulled over and given a speeding ticket in my dads car. (im 20 yrs old)This is my first offense. If i go to traffic school will my dad be able to see on his insurance that thre was a traffic violation in his car, or will it just go on my record? Does the insurance send you something in the mail, or just the court? thanks!

Answer: The citation is referenced to your drivers license, not to your father's car. Insurance companies know only what is on your DMV record, they don't get notified that you received a citation. Unless you are covered under your father's insurance, even if you got convicted of the offense that would not affect his insurance rates.

If you go to traffic school, neither your father nor your insurance company will learn of the citation from DMV, and it will NOT go on your record. The court will usually send you a notice, though, and those are pretty distinctive. If you live at home and your Dad sees the mail, he may figure it out. You might be able to avoid that if you take care of

Connecticut Insurance Data Breach Notification Rules: No Safe ...

Notification has to be in writing : first class mail, overnight delivery, and e-mail are given as options. --and entities will have give notification within five calendar days after the breach is found.   In fact, it even "expects" it to be so, which means, I guess, the Department is aware that information security breaches are something it will have to live with (but, of course, continuously work to eliminate).
