Why Do Employers Have A Delay Period Before Medical Insurance Benefits Are Offered?

I am taking a new job. Medical benefits will not be active until I am employed 90 days. Why do employers do this- what is the benefit to them? I really don't want to pay for 3 months of COBRA coverage.

Answer: Technically, if they don't want to keep you on, they can get rid of you through "employment at will," which means that if you can't do your job up to par, they can let you go without having to pay unemployment on you. You should have a 3 month and a 6 month performance evaluation to get a rough idea of where you stand and if they want to continue investing in you.

The majority of employees only stay with a company 1-2 years and usually move on.

Answer: Sure. As long as you send the bill to Mexico and quit expecting our CITIZENS to pay for it.

Can I Receive Medical Insurance Benefits From My Father?

I am 22 years and currently in college. My father will be receiving social security next year. I know I was able to receive medical insurance from his job for being in school. But now he will be on social security since he is retiring.

Answer: If he's going to be on Medicare, you can't "ride" on his coattails for that. If he keeps his private coverage, you can.

Can I Purchase A Medical Insurance Plan That Will Cover IVF Without Going Through My Employer?

My husband is in the military and I have heard that the military does not cover the IVF procedure. Can I purchase a separate insurance that will help with the costs or do I need a job that has medical insurance benefits?

Answer: There are many different types of insurance through different companies. I know one of kaisers policies will cover you for one round of IVF if you are not fertile due to natural reasons. IF you had your tubes tied they will not pay. Medical insurance is really expensive and you would probably be better off getting a loan because your monthly payment would probably be cheaper. I would call an infertility clinic and ask about a loan. They can give you all of the details and the monthly cost. Good luck hun

We Have Our Own Family Business.Can We Pay Our Medical Insurance Thru The Business As A Benefit/deduction?

We are currently paying the health insurance premiums out of our own pocket and hoped that if we offered it as a health benefit (to my husband and myself) from the company that it would be deductible.If so, would we have to restructure the insurance to do this?
