Understanding Medical / Health Insurance Quote? |
Question by Sophokl S. | Posted in Insurance
I recently got a quote for a health insurnace, but I am not sure I have a proper understanding what they mean...
IN NETWORK:
Deductible Ind / Fam - 2500/5000
Co-Insurance - 80%
Maximum Out-Of-Pocket - 5000/10000
then some co-pays for Office, Labs, Specialists (I'm OK with that)
Hospital 2500/5000 In/Out Net
So, the QUESTION IS:
If I am taken to hospital for 10 days (say, I am Ind, not Fam; and the bill, say, is 18000):
-
Answer: Is your deductible included in your out of pocket max ?
sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
you pay your deductible of 2500$ ...
then you pay your co-insurance of 80% up to 5000$ (oop max)
then insurance pays 100% of covered services for the calendar yr. |

What Is A Major Medical Deductible On Health Insurance? |
Question by Confused | Posted in Other - General Health Care
I currently am receiving quotes for medical insurance and I have this one policy quote that does not list a deductible, but it does list this Major Medical Deductible for $3500.00 & total out of pocket $6000.00? What does this mean? Is this for Emergency care only?
Answer: The total out of pocket includes the co-insurance. The plan will have a percentage, most of which are 80%/20%. After you pay the deductible of $3500 you pay a percentage of the medical charges until you've paid a total of $6000. Then the policy will pay for all covered charges.
"Major Medical" usually means a comprehensive policy, as opposed to a policy with many limits to the coverage. How it's used on your quote I have no idea because not all companies use it and just because a quote doesn't say it's major medical doesn't mean it's not. Also, many plans could be considered major medical and still have many limits to the plan.

Anyone Ever Hear Of A Medical Insurance Plan Called "Health Essentials"? |
Question by Bob | Posted in Insurance
Looking for medical insurance coverage for a 62 year old female with a preconditioned high blood pressure, but very controlled. Got a quote from Health Essentials but never heard of them. Any suggestions? They claim to be nationwide. How can I check as to their efficiency, service and patient care history?
| Answer: You need to go through an insurance broker. The broker will show you the health plans available to you. Never buy through a single source such as that. If it's good then a good broker will be showing it to you anyway. |
