if your boat is worth 20000 dollars and insurance company ask what is trailor worth along with boat and you say 35000 dollars. I am paying on that premium and someone told me if boat is stolen the insurance company want pay on what i am paying on. is this true and I am paying for more insurance than I should be . | Answer: You get actual cash value less your deductible, UNLESS you have AGREED value, then you get the amount you agreed upon but I bet they will make you prove the amount - Not many companies will do agreed value anymore. Most will do STATED value which is actual cash value UP TO the amount stated on the policy. If the actual cash value is more than the stated value, you only get the stated value. |

A friend of mine had good homeowners insurance. When he tools got stolen they would either cut him a check at a fixed price OR he could go out on his own nickel buy ALL the tools and they would reimburse him. He, of course, went out and bought the very best this time! Replacement value for the size and type of boat is probably what you want. |

I had a wreck in my boat, and my appraiser would like to see what the insurance company took after having the boat worked on. Do I have the right to look at the damaged parts? My appraiser has been hired and said they would like to see what the insurance company took. I was told by my insurance company that they took the parts because they belong to them, But I own the boat outright and would like to see my damaged parts and they say they do not have to show me or they can not find them? | Answer: In most cases when the shop I worked at made insurance repairs, we held the replaced items, until they told us it was ok to destroy them. That might have occurred in your case. Or, the repair shop assumed you knew what was damaged and discarded them. If the shop that did the work can't find them.....there is very little "legal action" that you can take. If there is an area of dispute, the appraiser can offer his opinion, by judging what was replaced, without ever seeing the damaged parts. I'm sure he would rather have examined the parts, but i've testified as to standard practices in the marine industry without seeing the original damaged parts. It is correct that |

HELP! Which Holiday Home Insurance Company Will Also Cover My Rowing Boat In The Policy? |
I've got a holiday home which I let out, there is also an old rowing boat for guests' use.
We previously had it insured by Towergate who included the boat in the cover, however now they tell me they cannot include boats and I'm struggling to find any other holiday home insurer which will do this. Anyone know of any that will???

| Answer: Hi, If you are l looking to insure the rowing boat for theft or damage then its unlikely that a holiday home insurance policy will cover it under the contents section. Boats should be covered under a marine policy (boat policy) they cost about £60 a year. However a comprehensive holiday let insurance policy should cover accidents or injury to guests whilst using rowing boats under the public liability section - although they would have to prove the owner had been negligent.
