How Many Hours Can I Work In Order To Keep My Unemployment Insurance In Rhode Island?

I make $508 a week in unemployment through Rhode Isand. I want to apply for a job through Comcast for Help Desk in IT. I finished school for IT while on unemployment and I need to get some hands-on experience. The job is part time (20 hrs/week). Trying to get through to Rhode Island Unemployment call center is a hard task in itself. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if you can work part time while on Unemployment. Answer: Actually, it's not a question of how many hours you can work, but rather how much money you can earn.

Following is an explanation from the RI UI dept website:

"Can I Work and Collect? If you are working less than full-time hours and your gross wages (before taxes) are less than your weekly benefit rate (excluding dependency allowances), you may be entitled to partial benefits. Example; Weekly benefit rate is $200. You earned $100. The "difference" between the two is $100. The Department will pay you the "difference" plus 20% of your Benefit Rate (BR). Difference = $100.+ 20% of BR payment is $140."

Health Insurance And College Students - Rhode Island Laws.?

my boyfriend is 20 years old. he is a full time college student and has no time for a job. he still lives with his mother because he's saving up money to move out on his own. because he doesn't have a job, he has no health insurance. when he turned 18, they took him off his mother's health insurance. they have very little money in general. is there anywhere they can go to get support such as food, clothing, etc... and also as a full time student i would think he is liable for health insurance

Answer: If he is a dependant going to college, he can still be on the parent(s) health insurance coverage. Why did they take him off his mother's coverage, they did not have to do that. Any health insurance through the school or university will cost him, it is not free, and probably would only be "basic coverage" in case something very very traumatic were to happen to him.

Answer: They can go to his church for financial help.

And most colleges DO offer a health plan you can buy into.

But I'd suggest, if they're that broke, he needs to get a full time job, and do college part time.

Taxes Of A Canadian Citizen (Quebec Resident), Working In Massachusetts, Living In Rhode Island?

kind of a vague question...I am starting a new job and this is very uncharted territory for me..

Do I have to pay the full amount of Canadian and American federal taxes, as well as Quebec provincial and Rhode Island-Mass state taxes?

Is there any "sharing" among them? I used to work in Ontario and live in Quebec, and I believe that I didn't pay the FULL Ontario and the FULL Quebec provincial tax rates.

Answer: Canada and the US have a tax treaty that determines which of the two can tax your income. Generally, the country in which the money is earned gets to tax it, but there are some exceptions. Check out the treaty at IRS.gov. The highlights of the treaty are summarized in IRS Publication 910.

Unfortunately, I have no idea which state/province can tax your income.

How Much Would It Cost To Buy A Jeep Wrangler At The Age Of 16 In Rhode Island? (approximately)?

I'm in drivers ed right now and i REALLY want to have a jeep wrangler (the mountain edition) as my car and i've had a job for about a year and a half and i've been saving up for that truck since.

I just want to know how much more i would have to save up. I go for my license in December and i can get my car at the end of the month and have it for 2011.

also my parents said that they would pay for half of the price as long as i pay the other half and for the insurance.
