I sell Contractors Insurance for roofers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. I sell general liability, workers comp., tool coverage, commercial auto, etc. Where and how can I find some good leads of contractors who need insurance or need to renew their current insurance?
Answer: There are a number of companies that sell business leads or mailing lists, most have Internet access for a monthly fee.
I've used this to extract businesses by SIC codes in a given area and then you apply your favorite marketing method: dial for dollars, targeted mailing, drop in and visit, whatever works for you.
Start x-dating, find good businesses to write, then write them; there you go, you now have the MBA course in agency building. Good luck. |

Where Can I Sell My Unused Insurance Leads? |

I'm a part-time life and health insurance broker. I have unused insurance leads (for both life and health) that I want to sell. Since I sell so few life and health policies (I do mostly group sales) I'm not even sure what kind of web-board or forum I could utilize to sell them. Please advise
| Answer: If your leads are more than 3 days old, I would suggest try selling them on Craigslist at a very, very low price. Insurance leads must be "hot off the press" before an agent buys them due to the fact the same leads are typically sold to so many other agents. |

Is It Legal To Generate Insurance Leads Offline And Then I Would Enter The Information Manually For Them? |

I joined a company that pays me for every insurance lead i generate for them. However i was thinking of getting some leads offline. Is there a proper way of doing this?
| Answer: This is going to be a state specific thing. In MOST states, as long as you are being paid for the LEAD, and not the SALE, and you are not filling out applications, you do not need a license. |

Answer: Visit your mortgage companies, real estate agents, and car lots. You might want to let these companies know your turn around time and that you are available from ____ to ____. My brother made sure that he was open during the car lot's hours. He is the only insurance agent in the area that is open until 7.
Also, know your discounts. If you have a discount for construction workers, then go out to those companies with a flyer and ask if you can put it up in their breakroom.
Health insurance... go to companies that mainly have part time people working there. Ask the HR person if she could tell anyone that is looking for health insurance that you offer it. Also, market |
