Question by SibylC | Posted in Insurance
Recently denied Major Medical Insurance because of my height and weight. Will that regulation ever be changed?

What Height/weight Ratio Will Get Me Best Life Insurance Rates? |
Question by budorbf | Posted in Insurance
I want to replace some ART life insurance with level term. But I'm worried my weight relative to height might keep me from the best rate. Is there some way to find out what numbers trigger higher risk? If so I might wait another year and try to lose 10-20 lbs.
| Answer: Each company has different height/weight charts, so there is no single answer to this question. However, the height /weight charts of several companies are available on the internet, and if you do a search using insure.com and enter your height/weight, it will filter out policies you are unlikely to qualify for. |

Where Can I Find Height/weight Charts That Are Accurate, Rather Than Based On Insurance Company Data? |
Question by plushpenguin | Posted in Other - Health
All the height/weight charts and ideal weight range calculators on the internet seem to be based on insurance company data, and they don't look very reliable to me. What is a more reliable way to find my recommended weight range? Do doctors have height/weight charts for adults, not just children?
| Answer: The rule of thumb is 100 lbs at 5'0 and for every inch above 5'0 an extra 5 lbs for a female and an extra 7 lbs for a male. These weights are the ideal weights for a given height. |

Is There A Way To Get Good Life Insurance With Less Than Perfect Height/weight? |
Question by Murph | Posted in Insurance
I am a big guy (think NFL lineman) at 6'3" and right around 300 pounds. I'm 29 years old, and I don't have any life insurance yet. Now that I am having kids, I need to do this. It seems difficult to get insurance with less than ideal height/weight. Although I am a big guy, I am very athletic. I go to the gym 5 days and week and run 3-5 miles a day. I have no major health problems. I know I am overweight and need to shed some pounds.
My question is---- Is there a way to get life
Answer: You will still be offered a policy if you're healthy. The things that affect life insurance as far as insurability and cost (premium) are mobility and mortality. If you're sick, your chances are less, or if there is something causing you health problems, like say ... back surgeries, that will be an issue in underwriting as well.
As an athlete, they will be asking you these questions, and even though you might not get a preferred rating for the weight, your health will go a long way. Worst case scenario, you'd get a table rating, but if you're healthy, that's not likely. You'll probably just end up with a standard or non-tobacco (I hope you don't smoke!) rating.

Hey I Would Like To Know If LIC Of India Has Given Any Standard For Height-weight For Getting The Insurance? |
Question by Gayatri R | Posted in Insurance
even WHO standard will be welcome
| Answer: Dear lic cant do anything.lic is also a cooperate company....its IRDA which looks after this issue.and all insurance companies come under IRDA..and all the companies have to pay security to IRDA and have to maintain asset-liability ratio OF 110% and there is no height weight standard and it depends on companies how much they can give you insurance and also depends on ur age, health profile and how much insurance you have taken already. |
