Does Anyone Work As A Insurance Fraud Investigator?

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who works as an Insurance Fraud Investigator? I am seeing that this career looks great, but the only downside I seen was that it said this job can be dangerous? Is this true? If anyone does this for a living, can you give me specific details about what you do for your job? Thanks everyone!

Answer: Hi there -- Although I haven't worked as a Fraud Investigator specifically, I have worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster. This gives me the basis for telling you that Fraud Investigator is generally a highly-sought after promotion from Claims Adjuster/Casualty Adjuster. It is, in most instances, not a career one can just step into, but instead part of a career path after understanding the basic claims adjusting process. Think of it this way: if you are going to know when someone is being fraudulent, you must first know what a typical non-fraudulent claim looks like. It can be an interesting field, but understand that in the entry-level positions, you're frequently confronted with the same kinds

Are There Any Insurance Fraud Investigators Or Property Adjuster That Can Answer This Question?

Will this be considered insurance fraud?
Scenario: Client has lost some old equipment due to flood and Company is called to provide an estimate for replacement. Initial estimate was given for equipment and replacement labor in amount of 50K. After a week or so it came obvious to Company that Client doesn't really need equipment of this level and all can be done for 30K.
In a mean time claim was filed for 50K.
Will Company be responsible in any way if Client receives 50K but

Answer: No.

This is not fraud.

Client won't receive REPLACEMENT cost for the damaged equipment - they'll get DEPRECIATED VALUE unless the items were actually replaced. Once they're replaced, they only get up to the cost to replace.

So they're still not going to come out "ahead". Maybe just not so far behind.

Answer: Most of your major insurance carriers pick their investigators from within the company, and/or contract with PI firms. You have to start as an adjuster. This requires a minimum of a HS diploma and in some cases, some college is required.
