Can I Get An Car Insurance Policy For Rental Cars Only?

I often rent cars and end up paying insurance. My credit card covers collision damage waiver (CDW) but not liability, which is required by law in states like California. Is there a policy I can get from an car insurance company that will give me liability for a good price? I'm tired of paying $10/day for something I never end up using.

Answer: Shop arround, but I doubt it. They have a nice racket, why would they offer to discount?

Allstate Car Insurance Providing Rental Cars For Accident?

My girlfriend was in an accident on Friday where a girl made an illegal left hand turn out of a bank and my girlfriend was going straight on the road and they collided. Now the police report has it down as the other girls fault but when we call her insurance company they told us all they do is reimburse you. What if you don’t' have the money to rent a car or even a credit card? Is there anything that I could do that by law make them pay? I live in New York (Long Island). Allstate was not helpful

Answer: In my experience the insurance companies have always just reimbursed me. Sorry. But then, I was the one at fault, so seems to me if she's not at fault they would be more accomodating. But that is the way it normally goes, reimbursement.

I Live Overseas. I Will Be In The U.S. 6 Wks. Is It Possible To Buy Car Insurance For Use Only W/rental Cars?

I've been trying to avoid buying all the car insurance for rentals (usually covering 6 wks). Since I have a wife and 2 kids, I want them to covered. Currently my rental practically doubles when I purchase it from the car rental agency. Do you know of any insurance that sells short-term car insurance exclusively for rental cars?

Answer: If you have a gold or better credit card, you'll normally be covered for physical damage on the rental car. It is usually limited to rentals of 30 days or less, however, so you should consider two consecutive rentals with different companies to make sure that you're covered.

Liability coverage is included in the base rental charge.

Check with your travel agent before you leave. They may be able to offer physical damage cover for you at a lower cost, possibly bundled with your regular travel insurance coverage, if your credit card doesn't offer this protection.

Are There Rental Cars That Can Be Covered By Personal Car Insurance?

I was wondering this because I wanted to rent a car but was afraid that I'd have to pay for the extra cost of insurance that the car's under. I have Mercury as an insurance and want it to use as my insurance instead of paying. Thanks... ^_^ v

Answer: If you don't have a non-owned vehicle rider on your policy, it won't cover a rental. You buy a policy to cover one car, not however many as you may borrow or rent.
Unless you have a basic policy, your liability may cover you, but not collision or comprehensive. Call your insurance agent to find out if you can buy what is called a vacationer's policy, which is a short term non-owned vehicle policy, to cover a rental vehicle. As an insurance broker I sold hundreds, maybe thousands of those, I never counted.

Geico Nonowner Auto Insurance For Rental Cars?

I intend on driving a rental car for a couple of months. I don't own a car and never held any auto insurance in the past.

Will Geico's nonowner auto insurance be right for me? Any feedback for this insurance product? Any nonowner insurance policies I should be avoiding?

Answer: Have you compared Geico's coverage and price to the rental car company's coverage and price ? I would let that be the determing factor
