Private Health Insurance That Doesn't Deny Coverage For Transgender People?

Does anyone know of any US insurance companies that don't deny health insurance coverage for TG people? I'm not looking for a plan that will cover hormones or anything like that, just something that won't cause a bankruptcy if I break my leg or get cancer.
Again, I don't WANT things like SRS covered. I just want insurance in case I get into such a bad accident or get so sick that I end up in the hospital.

Answer: Guess what? No emergency room in the United States can deny you medical care. Federal legislation called EMTALA ensures that everyone is able to get emergency medical care regardless of their ability to pay:

Even if you don't have insurance they must treat you and the hospital can write it all off as charity care.

In addition when people talk about transgender people being denied insurance coverage they are talking about transitional related medical care. Insurance companies can and do cover medical issues that aren't transition related. And under the new healthcare reform law nobody can be denied insurance for a pre-existing

In California Under What Circumstances Can A Private Health Insurance Company Cancel An Policyhoders Coverage?

Can a private health insurance company cancel a policyholder's coverage at any time for any reason? If not then under what circumstances can an insurance company cancel a policyholder's coverage? Are there Federal Laws that govern this? What about state laws specifically in California?

Answer: I hate to tell you this, but insurance companies can do what ever they want...I hope you read your summary of benefits and the contract you signed. I suggest you get the book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz at your local BArnes and Noble...it will help guide you through the process and help you find cheaper ways to pay for your healthcare that you may not even realize is at your fingertips!!!!! It also gives websites that are very helpful and may be able to help you with your situation....one website mentioned in the book is www.naic.org that may be helpful when it comes to this......I this helps.

Would You Support A "choice" Between A Government-run Health Care Insurance Option & Private Coverage?

More than three out of every four Americans feel it is important to have a "choice" between a government-run health care insurance option and private coverage, according to a public opinion poll released on Thursday.

A new study by SurveyUSA puts support for a public option at a robust 77 percent, one percentage point higher than where it stood in June.

Answer: Yes I would.

Republicans grandstand against just about every idea to reduce the amount of health care people consume or the prices paid to health-care providers -- the only two ways I can think of to credibly bring health spending under control.

When Democrats, for example, propose to fund research to give doctors, patients and health plans better information on what works and what doesn't, Republicans sense a sinister plot to have the government decide what treatments you will get. By the same wacko-logic, a proposal that Medicare pay for counseling on end-of-life care is transformed into a secret plan for mass euthanasia of the elderly.

Why Did Dear Leader Øbama Speak Of Eliminating Private Health Insurance In 2007?

employer coverage = private health insurance

"I would hope that we could set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort. But I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process."

-- Barack Øbama, March 24, 2007

Answer: Obama openly campaigned for Universal Health care for everyone. This would automatically end all private health insurance coverages.

Why Won't Private Health Insurance Cover Weight Loss Surgery?

I own a business and pay dearly for my health insurance coverage. Why doesn't my insurance cover weight loss surgery? If i had insurance through my employer more than likely it would but i can't get insurance through my employer because i only work part-time.

Answer: Because weight loss surgery is rarely, if ever, medically necessary. The option is to change the amounts and types of foods which enter your mouth. You will lose weight without surgery, and THAT is why insurers do not cover it.

How Much Do Health Insurance Companies Spend On You?

The MLR is part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a law that puts into place comprehensive health insurance reforms that is intended to hold insurance companies more accountable, will lower health care costs, guarantee more health care choices,... For example, if an insurer collects $100 million in premiums for large-group coverage but spends only $75 million on legitimate medical care, the insurer would have to return $10 million to the policyholders. This amount, which has been established at 80 cents (small groups and individual policies) to 85 cents (large group policy holders) of each premium dollar, has been an integral factor in the ACA’s efforts to control health insurance premiums. The MLR is the amount of every insurance premium dollar that insurance companies have to spend on medical costs or improvements to quality of care. Last week, proposed rules were issued and approved by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for measuring the Medical Loss......
