Can I Put Insurance On My Collectors Car For 6 Months Than Take It Off And Repeat?
Question by voodoochild158xi | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Hi I was wondering if it would be possible to take my collectors car out only during the summer and keeping it insured for only 6 months than dropping it to avoid paying for a car during the winter I don't use. I can't find any reason why they wouldn't do this because I'd pay up front for the half year and the car would sit under a cover in a garage for another half year. Help!
Answer: Most insurance companies have policies like that. Many motorcyclists have it also when they live in areas where it snows during the winter. If it is collectable, I would suggest keeping insurance that covers damage from other sources though. Your insurance on the garage will not cover damages to the vehicle if it catches fire or is wind damaged.
What Is A Collector Car Insurance?
Question by vinnie | Posted in Insurance & Registration
please tell me everything you know about collector car insurance. i really need to know. thanks.
Answer: Collector car insurance is generally for high value, low mileage vehicles. Antique auto coverage is for vehicles over 25 years old, and have very low mileage. Some carriers will require that the vehicle be titled as an Antique with special license plates. Both policies are much lower premiums than a standard personal auto policy. Call your local independent agent, they should have access to carrier for you.
Can Anyone Recommend A Good Classic/Collector Car Insurance Company?
Question by 2007_Shelby_GT500 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I'm looking for reasonable terms/conditions and rates to insure a 1967 Chevy Chevelle. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for insurance companies specializing in classic cars?
Thanks!
Answer: Try Hagerty.com Great rates but you need to be careful about the mileage that you put on in a year. It is usually limited to 2500 and the car has to be kept in a locked garage and you have to have another personal auto policy for your other vehicle.
Do I Have To Be 25 Years Old To Drive My Dads Car On Geico's Classic Car Insurance Policy?
Question by Jonathan S | Posted in Insurance & Registration
His car is on the American Collectors insurance through Geico, and my mom tells me I have to be 25 to drive it and be insured. True or false? I'm 17 by the way.
Answer: Don't be stupid. Your mom is not going to take someone's answers from Yahoo answers seriously. Look up the number for Geico and call their customer service line and ask the company directly. "But moooooommmmm... the people on the internet said it was fineeeeee!" is not going to work.

Is there any way to get full coverage on a collector car for one day? I want to drive my family's 66 mustang on the last day of school but I am too young to be covered under the collector car policy.
Answer: Call your insurance broker, but odds are if you are too young to be put on policy, they won't be able to insure you for one day!!!!
