Our Familly's Holiday Was Delayed Which Cost Us Over £3000, HELP!!!!!?

living on the isle of man meant that we needed to get to our airport to catch to catch the plane going to england and then get that plane to the US, however due to fog the IOM plane was cancelled meaning that we missed the US flight and the fore had to book a whole new holiday, in short this cost us over £3000 more than it should have done , however because the flight was not delayed over 24 hours (it was 20) all we got from our travel insurance was £80, there seems to be no solution, is there

Answer: If both flights were with the same company you possibly would have some recourse, but if it was with two different airlines, sadly you don't.

That is a lot of money to have to pay out, but the airlines are not responsible for weather conditions.

I don't believe you will be able to get any money back.

Domestic Buildings Insurance In The UK?

I own a leasehold conventionally built bungalow on a holiday park. Under the terms of the lease I have to insure the buildings through the park owner who is approved by the FSA as representative of the insurance company. He has quoted an outrageous premium of £327 for the cover. I got a quote from another insurer of £80 for the same level of cover. The site owner would not accept this and insists that I take his policy at his premiumas my lease states that I must take the insurance offerered by

Answer: If the park owner is an appointed rep (AR) under the FSA then he has to treat the clients with respect under the treating customers fairly (TCF) and ICOB (Insurance conduct of business). I personally work in the creditor Insurance business, which has come under a lot of flack by the FSA and the competition commission for not allowing customers to make an informed choice on which PP Insurance policies to take out (and more importantly, comanies such as the one in question here, forcing customers to take one particular policy). Exactly the same principals apply here. Since January 2005 the Persoanl Lines insurance business came heavily under regulation since the FSA took over from GISC (general

Answer: I suspect that you're out of luck. The IOM carrier will, I am sure, accept no responsibility for your missing an onward flight with another company. Their contract with you was to get you from the IOM to the mainland, which they did, albeit late and that was not their fault. No airline will compromise safety just to stick rigidly to a schedule.

Is It Worth Getting Travel Insurance?

I noticed most policies have an excess. I never take expensive items on holiday anyhow so, is it worth getting?

For instance baggage cover had £150 excess, im sure my belongings are only £60-80.

I have a applied for an EHIC card which should be here soon so what more do I need. Im sure the only thing I really need is a photocopy of my passport which should be kept seperate from my passport.

Please let me know if theres any scenarios i've missed

Answer: In that case just take out one that will repatriate your body.

a. what are the total benefits?
b. what is the rate of benefits?

ok, i have a test tomorrow, and i have to know this, i asked my teaher but he

Answer: Wow, there need to be a few more clarifications (in re: of taxations etc.)

Hence, I'm not sure if her benefits are subject to taxation or not, but lets assume it is, then first you must deduct her 3 % unemployement insurance, 6.2 social sec + 1.45 medicare (total of 10.65%) from the 100% 17,470 (to get her net earnings)
100
-10.65 =
80.35 = 80.35 times 17,470 divided by 100=

14037.15 (rounded up) are her net earnings

14037.15 : 12 = 1169.76 (monthly net)
1169.76 : 4 = 292.44 (weekly net)
292.44 :5 = 58.49 (daily net)

58.49 times 8 = 467.90 are her 8 paid holidays.
Add (her health insurance
