Is it important to get travel insurance when traveling from Australia to America? and if so how much will it cost? i'm 18 years old. Thanks

Answer: You definitely need health insurance. Check with your carrier as to whether or not your coverage would apply in the US - most likely not.

Whether you want to buy trip insurance is dependent on how much risk you're willing to assume. Maybe nothing will go wrong with your plans and the insurance would have been a "waste". Maybe there'll be snags or you'll have to cancel part of the trip to return home early for an emergency, etc., etc. Then the insurance would have been a good idea. Answer: There is no such thing as 'cheap' travel insurance.

If you want cover you have to pay - simple as that.

Which Country Should I Buy Travel Insurance From?

Hi All

I am going to Canada for 10-12 weeks in Feb 09. I was going to purchase my travel insurance here in Australia, but then I thought maybe it might be better to buy it from a Canadian firm, that way, if something happens, I'm in the same country as the insurer.

Any thoughts?
