Is It Necessary To Buy Rental Car Insurance Even Though I Have My Car Insurance Policy With Me?

I have a car and have taken Auto insurance for it.
Now my question is if i take a rental car, then my auto insurance policy for my car covers it or i need to take separate insurance for the rental car? When i took the auto insurance policy, they have taken my car details and its present in the insurance card also.
If i need to take insurance for rental car, what type of insurance do i need to take excluding my auto insurance policy coverage that applies to all cars?
Also if

Answer: When you rent a car, you have to have full coverage on the care that you own (your personal vehicle) and then that will automatically carry over to the rental. If you do not have full coverage you can add it to your existing policy for the amount of time you'll be renting the car OR just buy the insurance from the rental place. And to answer your other question, no your policy will not cover somebody else's car just because you're driving it. Insurance covers vehicles, NOT people, even if you were in an at fault accident, your friend/relative's insurance would have to cover that loss.

Can I Get An Auto Insurance Policy For Rental Cars Only?

I often rent cars and end up paying insurance. My credit card covers collision damage waiver (CDW) but not liability, which is required by law in states like California. Is there a policy I can get from an auto insurance company that will give me liability for a good price? I'm tired of paying $10/day for something I never end up using.

Answer: Yes, you can. A friend of mine has does not own a car but wanted rental car (traditional + Citycarshare) coverage. He was able to get it through USAA (military families), but my guess is that you would be able to get it from other companies as well. It was something like 100 bucks for the whole year.

Is It Ok To Buy "Loss Of Use - Car Rental" For Insurance Policy Without Buying Collision?

And if my car insurance policy has both: loss of use and collision, and if I was involved in an accident, is it ok for me to use car rental without claiming collision? Thanks

Answer: You can purchase rental reimbursement coverage without having collision. If you are involved in an accident, you would be covered for the rental even if you wouldn't be covered for the damages. If you have collision coverage and rental, you could only use the rental coverage if you were involved in a covered loss (an accident). In other words, if your car breaks down or if you just need a rental for the weekend, the rental coverage cannot be used.

Edit: In reference to the answer below, I work as a claims rep for an insurance company (one of the largest insurance companies in the US). Although it's rare, I have handled claims for rental only because the insured did not have collision

We have a property management company that handles our rental property. They require us to carry a homeowners policy with THEIR name on our policy for liability. This type of policy does not seem to be the norm and therefore is hard to find. Can anyone assist? The home is in Texas. Thanks!

Answer: homeinsurance.awardspace.us - try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.
