Does Geico Car Insurance Cover Rental Cars?

Does Geico car insurance cover rental cars? Or does it JUST cover your car that you have insured w. them?

Answer: When renting a car, you need insurance. If you have adequate insurance on your own car, including collision and comprehensive, this may be enough.

Before you rent a car:

* Contact your insurance company
Find out how much coverage you have on your own car. In most cases, the coverage and deductibles you have on your personal auto policy would apply to a rental car, providing it’s used for pleasure and not business. If you don’t have comprehensive and collision coverage on your own car, you will not be covered if your rental car is stolen or if it is damaged in an accident.

* Call your credit card company

What Car Insurance Companies Offer Free Rental Service Or Cover Rental Car Insurance?

I have a van that I don't trust to take on long trips, but Geico doesn't cover rentals unless you buy full coverage. Unfortunately, they won't let me buy full coverage because my vehicle is not worth the risk.

Answer: You can purchase the physical damage coverage from the rental car company. The good thing about doing that is that there is usually no deductible so, should you have an accident with your rented vehicle, you don't have to worry about any additional out of pocket expenses. You should however, contact your insurance company and ask them if they have a coverage for the rental car that covers the expense for the time it is out of service after an accident.

Does State Farm Insurance Cover Rental Cars If You Car Gets Stolen?

I do have full coverage on the car that was stolen ,but does rental coverage come standard on full coverage insurance?

Answer: Rental coverage is not automatically included on "full coverage" policies. Full coverage typically means liability coverage along with comprehensive and collision. Rental may have been included on your policy or left off, you will have to check your documentation to see if it is included. If you look at your insurance cards R1 will mean you have rental coverage. As far as your original question, rental coverage applies to covered claims, so if your car was stolen and you have comprehensive which covers stolen vehicles, then the rental coverage may apply. Best bet is to call your agent during the day and have them check your coverages so you know for sure.
