How To Get A National Insurance Number And Tax Number In Edinburgh?

Hi all,
I'm moving to Scotland in a few months for my OE, (I'm from NZ) and was wondering what the best way is to get a National Insurance Number that I need to work. And i'm guessing a Income Tax number.
I've been looking around and it seems very confusing. Do I just turn up at the tax office and go from there for both? Or are they different entities? And how long does it take?
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
I've got a UK Passport,

Answer: You have to apply for both at Revenues and Customs. It's a routine application.

How Do You Get A National Insurance Number?

I'm moving to Britain to go to school and work. But I plan on actually staying there so I would like to get a national insurance number? I can do this if I'm planning on staying right? How would I do this? Do you have to have actual citizenship there?

Answer: To apply for a national insurance number you do not need to be an actual citizen of the United Kingdom. However you are entitled to one if you have a right to work here.

Can I Start Working Without A National Insurance Number In The UK?

I'm a national of a EEA country and have been offered a job in London in England, however I don't have a UK's National Insurance Number.. , where should I apply for one, and how much would it take to get it? Is there a temporary number I am assigned temporarily while waiting for the definitive document?

Besides the NIN, are there other specific documents I must have in order to work in the UK? (I know I don't need a work permission).

Thanks in advance.

Answer: You can start work without an National Insurance Number, but they may take big chunks out of your pay check if you don't have one. You have to make an appointment at a Job Centre to be given a temporary, then permanent number.

Make an appointment through HM Revenue and Customs at this number: +44(0)845 600 0643. It takes about 10 minutes to get all the information and the London offices tend to be booked up 3 weeks in advance. If you are in a hurry though, just register your information and keep calling back in case there is a cancellation.

They will then refer you to a local branch, where you have to show up in person with all the documentation that you have either
