United Healthcare Insurance/Dental?

I just started using dental insurance with United Healthcare. I need 2 of my wisdom teeth cut out, under Frequency Limitations it says 1 per lifetime. So, does that mean they will only pay for 1 of them to be extracted during my lifetime????? I am a little confused.

Also, does anyone else have this plan? Do you have to pay for all cost out of pocket and then file a claim?

Answer: "Once per lifetime" means one numeric tooth. For example, if tooth #1 has to be extracted the insurance company will pay just once for this particular tooth. Sounds weird, I know, but that's how insurance policies work.
In regards to the payments it really depends on the dental office. If dental office is a participating provider, you don't have to file any claims. The office will file the claim for you. There can be a co-payment for surgical procedure. Approximately 20%, but some offices don't ask patients to co-pay.

I Don't Have Dental Insurance. Are There Any Resources That I Can Look Into For Low Cost Dental Care?

I am looking for an actual "low cost" dental or medical healthcare insurance plan and NOT a "discounted" dental care service such as the AmeriPlan services. I am in need of oral surgery and possibly a couple dental implants or bridge work, which of course is very expensive. Can anyone help me by providing a list of beneficial information? I promise you that your feedback is highly appreciated.....thanks!

Answer: As a dentist I recommend calling your counties local Department of Family and Childrens Services. A lot of these services actually have a dentist on staff that is available to help with any dental procedures you may need. If your county DFCS office does not provide any type of dental services they should be able to put you into contact with someone who will be able to assist you (ex: another state agency). Also try your local dental school if there is one around you, these procedures are usually provided and are very low in cost compared to a dental office itself. Good luck and I hope you find the help you need.
