Health Insurance For Foreigners Resided In Germany?

I'm a Singapore citizen at age 43, and I'm planning to go to Germany this coming August to take up a German language course for 6 months or so.

As I was told that health insurance is mandatory in Germany, I'm wondering how I can get my health insurance covered during my stay in Germany.

Can any of you shed some light on this for me? Thanks very much in advance.

Answer: DKV Versicherungsgruppe (0180-358222 telephone from within Germany) offers an "auslander versicherung" for non-residents. The insurance can only cover you for a maximum of 4 years total (even if there is a break in insurance). The rates are good, service is good, and not complicated to use.

I am from India & I would like to know about the health insurance options for indians working in Malaysia. My husband is working but I am a housewife. His company takes care of his insurance. We are trying for a baby and I would like to know about the health insurance options for foreigners in Malaysia.

There are various options of health insurance in Malaysia namely Hospitalization & Surgical (H&S)Insurance, critical Illness insurance and hospitalization income insurance.

What is H&S insurance?
H&S insurance is the most popular type of health insurance for foreigners. It is also known as medical card insurance in Malaysia. H&S insurance covers the hospitalization expenses like room & bord, intensive care unit, surgeon's fees, anaesthetist fees, organ transplant, pre-hospitalization and post-hospitalization treatments, etc.

What Are Health Insurance Options For Foreigners In The US?

Wife is not a US citizen, has no ability to get SS number. Is in US temporarily and needs Health Insurance coverage. Maybe some sort of traveller's insurance?

Answer: A non-US citizen can get a regular insurance policy here in Florida as long as they have been a resident for one year. No ss# is now required. Has she been here one year? The insurance company will require proof such as a utility bill, bank statement etc. If she has been here in the US less than one year she will need travel insurance. See some websites below.

How do you sign up for health insurance for foreigners living in Thailand? Who provides that type of insurance? How much does it cost?

Answer: You will probably need to get an expatriate insurance policy unless you are covered by an employer. It would be much more reliable than any policy you could get in China anyway. The poster who said prices are fixed by the government knows that is not true.

The only part that is true is that the doctor visits are inexpensive. But forget about an in-depth consultation because you will not get it. That low prices gets you five minutes with a doctor and ten or fifteen Chinese people crowding you trying to hear the doctor's diagnosis.
